I really should post more

Not that I think anyone is reading my blog… well, maybe once or twice somebody did.  They left a comment or two.

Summer is *finally* over – I hate the heat.  But it seems as if it’s gone from AC to Heat.  We were out camping with friends over the weekend on trip #9.  Got together with a few new friends at Killens Pond State Park. They certainly didn’t plan the place for 36′ fifth wheels!  Its set up with 5 circular loops with small sites.  But, it’s wooded and we had electric and water, and the price was right at $24 a night.  Hmm … I see they’ve just upped the rate recently to $25.  I’m hoping they’ve listened to my pleas to expand the electric sites at Lums Pond State Park.  Lums is a really nice campground with large sites.  It really is sad that only 5 have electric.  They stay booked almost all year, a bit of an investment in expanding the electric, even if only 2 or 3 sites a year would be great.  If anyone is reading this, go here to send them an email (http://www.destateparks.com/general_info/InfoRequest.asp)  Maybe if enough folks ask for more electric sites, it will happen.

We have one more trip planned to Elk Neck State Park in November.  I’m hoping the long-range forecast is off, as it’s supposed to get down to 29 the second Friday!  We’d have to postpone the trip and winterize if that happens.  Not looking forward to that thought.  It will be sad to have to park the RV for 4 months.  This will be the first winter I can remember that I will be looking forward to spring even before we have the first snow.

I was reading through The Pioneer Woman’s blog today and her “Ten Important Things I’ve Learned About Blogging“.  #2 “Blog Often”.  So, I’ll try to post more. Not that anyone might be reading this of course, but one can hope….  I find that I do enjoy blathering my random thoughts :).

What a day….

June 2 finally arrived! We got to the dealer around 11, and started our pre-delivery inspection. Thankfully we found no issues and were on the road home around 2:30.

My “no I’m not at all nervous about bringing it home” hubby must have been a lot more nervous that he wanted to admit! He snapped at me every time I tried to talk to him! Admittedly tho, driving a new fifth wheel down a major interstate on a Friday afternoon probably wasn’t the best idea. By the time we got to the Delaware tho, he was a bit more relaxed.

We stopped by the house and loaded up all the things we’d been collecting over the past year to outfit our new digs. Headed to the campground and backed in with no trouble… then when reaching under the bumper to grab the electrical cord, hubby proceeded to slice his arm open on the sharp diamond plate on the rear bumper! If he had turned his arm just a few degrees the wrong way, it could have been a *major* injury severing an artery. It took a trip to the emergency clinic and 6 stitches to close the wound.

The rest of the weekend went fairly uneventfully. We brought the dogs down, but they were too excited and nervous so we took them back home after about an hour. Got up early the next day and ran home to feed them and get a shower.

The cat enjoyed herself tho – until daughter stopped by with her puppy – then she went into hiding!

It’s in!

It’s in! It’s in! It’s in!

Our new fifth wheel has arrived at the dealer! I can’t wait to see it.

We decided rather than fight the holiday traffic that we would wait until June 2 to do our PDI and bring it home. We’ve got camping reservations at Lums Pond State Park (a mere 3 miles from home). We thought this would be a good “practice” session with the new rig. It’s close by and if we have forgotten something, we can just run home.

Yesterday I joined the Heartland Owner’s Club. We don’t even have the RV yet! I have already met a bunch of folks online that live close by. Really looking forward to making new friends. There are lots of rallys waiting for us too. I think we’ll sign up for the 5-state rally that’s to be held in DE and the MD one to be held near Ocean City MD.

I think this is going to be a fun adventure. Wonder how it will work with the dogs…

RV There Yet?

Well this year we decided to venture into the world of RV-ing. We’d been looking for about a year – found a brand and model we fell in love with – and at a price we could afford. We decided on a Heartland Sundance 3300QS.

We decided to order from Fretz RV in Souderton, PA. on April 11, after discovering the decor we wanted was going to be discontinued. It is going to be a lonnnnnngggggg 6 week wait until it arrives!
